Dvorak: Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”
Beloved former TFO resident conductor Thomas Wilkins returns for Dvorak’s epic Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” full of power and longing inspired by music Dvorak heard on his journey through America. The program starts with the Hiawatha Ballet Suite by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, whose career was heavily influenced by traditional African music and poetry, especially The Song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
