Beethoven: Symphony No. 7

Music Director Michael Francis welcomes you back to the joy of live music. Experience Jessie Montgomery’s inventive Strum for strings before Zoltan Kodaly’s lively Dances of Galanta, based on gypsy folk music. After the strife and heartache of war, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 brings a full throttle, triumphant finish as TFO celebrates 250 years of the iconic composer.

WATCH VIRTUAL PRE-CONCERT CONVERSATION

For now, there will be no Pre-concert Conversations live in the concert hall. However, Maestro Michael Francis has recorded a video version of his popular talk, straight from the Mahaffey Theater stage. Click here to watch. Also, go Inside Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 with Michael Francis and TFO musicians in this video series.

PRINTABLE PROGRAM NOTES

To keep the concert experience as touchless as possible, we will not provide printed programs for now. Click here for printable program notes or to view them on any device.

ON THE BLOG

Juilliard-trained composer Jessie Montgomery finds her voice in music. Her engrossing work Strum opens our reimagined season this weekend. Read about how she composes on the TFO Blog.

The coronavirus pandemic has forced The Florida Orchestra to rethink everything for our 2020/21 season – from concert repertoire to seating – so that we can bring live classical music back to Tampa Bay safely. It’s a tremendous amount of new information with different rules. We hope this guide will answer some of your questions and help you make your concert decisions.

Thank you to everyone who has supported TFO over this past year. Even though your concert experience is different from your last visit, it is still our mission to inspire, strengthen and heal our community through music. We rely on your donations to power everything we do, and in these extraordinary times, we need your support more than ever. To make a contribution, please visit FloridaOrchestra.org/donate.
