Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4
Michael Francis conducts one of the most anticipated moments of the season: the world premiere of Michael Ippolito’s Violin Concerto, written specifically for TFO Concertmaster Jeffrey Multer. The concerto continues TFO’s commitment to music as a living art form and its close collaboration with Ippolito, a much sought-after composer who was inspired by The Florida Orchestra as he grew up in Tampa. In Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, he turns his battle with fate into a powerful journey that ends with a volley of musical fireworks at breakneck speed. The concert begins with the hauntingly beautiful Elegy by Grace Williams, Wales’ most notable female composer.
