John Williams: Escapades (From Catch Me If You Can)
Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto
Rachmaninoff: Symphonic Dances

With “talent that’s off the scale,” Stefan Jackiw performs Peter Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, which survived a disastrous marriage and a scorching review to become one of the most beloved concertos of all time. Maestro Michael Francis opens the concert with John Williams’ whimsical Escapades, full of 1960s swagger from the 2002 movie Catch Me if You Can. It features TFO’s John Shaw on vibraphone and Joseph Beverly on saxophone. Sergei Rachmaninoff wrote his final composition, Symphonic Dances, about three years after he had stopped composing in frustration.
