Famous for its opening sequence of pounding chords, Peter Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 was an immediate hit when it premiered in Boston in 1875 on an American tour, and it has easily endured as one of the most famous works of all time. Michael Francis conducts soloist Conrad Tao in his TFO debut. Written when Igor Stravinsky was just 27 years old, The Firebird ballet was a breakthrough for the Russian composer, catapulting him to international success. TFO will perform the complete work.
