Dukas: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Thierry Caens: Contrasts Trombone Concerto
Berlioz: Symphonie fantastique
This supernaturally charged concert opens with Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, made famous by Mickey and a bewitched broom in Disney’s 1940 film Fantasia. The psychedelic trip continues with Hector Berlioz’s epic Symphonie Fantastique, a self-portrait of passion, heartbreak and obsession. Plus, TFO’s Joël Vaisse performs the world-premiere version of Thierry Caens’ Contrasts trombone concerto, commissioned by The Florida Orchestra. Andrew Sewell conducts.
